I recently had the pleasure of reviewing Dracula, the latest Gothic production by Sydney Theatre Company, adapted and directed by Kip Williams and starring the extraordinarily talented Zahra Newman. As a Gothic scholar, I obviously jumped at this invitation – Dracula is, after all, one of the most iconic and influential of Victorian Gothic literature, and I was intrigued to see how it was adapted for a twenty-first-century audience. And boy was I not disappointed!
